They met in college. Their first meeting was brief and they were instantly connected. But as quick as it happened, he was gone and she never even found out his name. She figured that she’d never see him again, but the following week she walked into a friends house and there he was. The boy she thought was gone forever was standing right in front of her. She stood there in complete disbelief, and she knew she wouldn’t let him go this time. And she didn’t.
7 years later Nathan knew he couldn’t let her go and that this was the woman he’d need to spend forever with. Over Christmas he asked for her parents blessing, and after their tearfully happy yes, he set his plan in action. After all the hustle and bustle with family and friends were over, they settled down to open presents and spend the rest of Christmas wrapped up with their dog. Typically, they open gifts one at a time – back and forth. This year Nathan switched it up and opened his presents all at once, making Erica sit and wait to open her’s. She finally got to the very last gift and when she opened it she saw a ring box. She covered her face and started to cry. Nathan came closer, getting down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. And if she needed a glass of wine.
Erica and Nathan look forward to their wedding day this November, seeing one another for the first time that day, and most of all… being that old couple walking hand and hand, as much in love when their hands turn wrinkly as on the first day they laid eyes on one another – when he had her at “hello”.
