We are thrilled to share a very special wedding that holds a unique place in our hearts. After just shy of 20 years in this business, we had the joy of capturing a wedding that we technically could have walked to! The Econie family are our neighbors, and we’ve shared many moments with them over the years. We’ve watched their children grow up and love having them as our “country neightbors”. When Kyrstin and Cole decided to tie the knot at Cole’s at the Econie house, we couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of their day.
Kyrstin and Cole’s love story began in a unique place – the gym! It was a September evening at D&D Fitness when their paths crossed. Cole, focused on his workout (Or mostly focused on flexing in the mirror), caught Kyrstin’s eye while she was on the treadmill. Cole, equally intrigued by Kyrstin’s beauty, found himself captivated with more than just his own reflection lol. “What a pretty girl,” he thought when he first saw her.
Their first date was equally unique – After a powerlifting meet Cole asked Kyrstin to dinner at a Mexican restaurant. The two were sitting at the table talking and he kept staring at her. “I asked, “what are you looking at, is there something on my face?” and he replied,” Are your eyes real? I have never seen such beautiful eyes before” and the rest is history.
Fast forward to the proposal. At their favorite spot in Old St. Charles, MO, overlooking the Missouri River at sunset, Cole planned a magical evening. They enjoyed a romantic dinner, shared their favorite ice cream, and then strolled along the riverbank. As they danced slowly to their song, Cole suddenly twirled Kyrstin around and dropped to one knee. “Kyrstin McKenzie, you make me the happiest man alive. Will you marry me?” he asked. Kyrstin, caught in what can only be described as a dreamlike state, took a moment before saying yes, overwhelmed by the magic of the moment.
On May 25th, 2024, surrounded by family and friends, Kyrstin and Cole exchanged vows at the Econie house, transformed into a picturesque wedding venue. Enjoy a peek at Kystin and Cole’s wedding day!
“I wore my grandmas pearl necklace and Coles grandmas gold and pearl earrings.” Kyrstin’s goal for the wedding day was to look beautiful for Cole, and we’d say she nailed it.
Kyrstin’s favorite thing about Cole is is how he takes care of her, understands her, and knows her better thanshe knows herself.
The theme of pink, brown, and white intertwined perfectly with rustic decor and handmade details. “Cole and his dad built the altar, and Cole crafted the cake stands himself,” shares Kyrstin proudly.
Kyrstin and Cole opted not to have a wedding party, but they did have their dogs play an important role in the day.
The moment that both Kyrstin and Cole looked most forward to…Kyrstin walked down the aisle to “In your love by Tyler Childers.” They heard this song for the first time a couple years ago and immediately agreed that Kyrstin should walk down the aisle to it. “What Tyler sang is how we feel about one another.” The Corinthians reading that was read at the beginning of the ceremony is in the couple’s bedroom on the wall. “I believe that every single marriage/ relationship should remind themselves how love is. I also enjoyed reading genesis (which was a part of my vows) because it describes perfectly what a woman should mean to a man.”
The moment they’ll hold closest to their hearts from their wedding day was their ceremony. “It was nothing short of perfect and beautiful.”Like any wedding day, there were a few unexpected twists. “My veil got ripped off during our exit,” laughs Kyrstin. Her expression says it all lol.
Do you remember the Friday it rained torrential downpours all day long about a month ago? That was the day before Kyrstin & Cole’s wedding. All the set up had to be changed last minute due to the amount of rain that day.” The original venue was going to be beautiful, overlooking the pond with the bar downstairs and dancing under the deck with all the string lights.” Even though they had to change plans, the setting was beautiful and felt inviting and relaxed. Kyrstin did an adorable outfit change to be able to dance and enjoy the evening.
“When Cole and I first started dating, he called me lady may. I was super confused because I had no idea what that meant. So, he turned the song on and I just start crying because that is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Cole said that is how he felt about me. Cole sings me that song sometimes at night when we’re laying in bed when I get overwhelmed or when life is falling apart.”
Reflecting on their wedding day, Kyrstin and Cole wouldn’t change a thing, except perhaps opting for a more intimate ceremony. “Consider a courthouse wedding if you want a moment just for yourselves,” Kyrstin advises future couples. “It would allow you to savor the day without distractions.”
One of the many things that stands out about this couple and their day was how the most important part to them was the ceremony and the time that they had to enjoy one another. Nothing else matters to them except one another’s happiness and being together. The two look forward to “living our dream life and conquering our goals together. Hitting milestones, having ups, having downs, being with each other through every season life has to offer.”
Thank you both for choosing Roger and I to capture this beginning of your forever. We are cheering for you all along the way and can’t wait to see you two walk through life together hand in hand and live out your vows you made to one another. Congratulations!!
