MADELEINE + SCOTT

They met at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in the Fall of 2016. Mutual friends wanted to be matchmakers, so they coordinated ofr Scott and Madeleine to meet. Scott had parties at his house on Thursday nights, so Madeleine went to meet him. The two met and talked all night. There was an immediate connection, and they wanted to keep getting to know each other. You wouldn’t think Vanilla Ice would have an impact on their relationship, but sure enough, as Scott rapped every word to Ice Ice Baby to Madeleine while dancing in the living room with a house full of people, she knew he was someone she wanted to get to know because he made her laugh and was always ready to have fun.
Madeleine: “I was first attracted to Scott’s energy and personality. He was so outgoing and was everyone’s friend. He was always ready to have fun and his positive personality was contagious. He was also a genuinely good person. He truly cared about his friends and family and would do anything for them which was quickly shown in how he treated me. ”
Scott: “I was immediately attracted to Madeleine the first night we met because of how fun of a person she was(and because she let me rap every word to Ice Ice Baby to her and still wanted to talk to me). We had an immediate connection and I could tell how fun-loving and caring she was. As I got to know her, I learned more about her values and how special of a person she was. Her love for her family and her drive to reach her goals made it impossible not to want to be with her. ”

After 2 years at SIUE together, Madeleine moved to Nashville, TN. They made it work doing long-distance, but after a year Scott moved to be with Madeleine in Nashville. They lived in Nashville for 2 years before moving back to Edwardsville to be back closer to family and friends.

On March 12, 2022, the two went to Chicago for St. Patrick’s Day (also Scott’s birthday). “We checked into our hotel and then walked to the Chicago river to see the green river for St. Patrick’s Day. We found an open spot and then Scott got down on one knee and proposed. Madeleine was not expecting it at all since we were there for Scott’s birthday so it was a big surprise. We celebrated the rest of the day by exploring the city and then going to a Chicago Bulls game. Chicago was also the first place we ever traveled for a weekend away together, so it was a special place.”

They planned their wedding for June 3rd in Madeleine’s hometown. “We wanted it to be beautiful, filled with love, being surrounded by the people we love, and singing/dancing all night with our favorite people. We wanted it to be as special and meaningful as possible for each other as well as the people we love.”

Their plans became reality! Enjoy a look at Madeleine & Scott’s wedding day!
Madeleine wore her mom’s pearl bracelet that her dad gave her for their 30th anniversary.“Madeleine is such a special person. My favorite thing about her overall is how selfless and loving she is. Whether it be me, Charlie, one of her siblings, her parents, etc. it doesn’t matter, she will always be there to support and put that person first. She truly goes above and beyond for Charlie and I and makes life a blast! I also just love how GOOD of a person she is. She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and couldn’t hurt a fly.” -Scott“I love how caring, motivated, and loving Scott is. He always knows what to say to turn a bad day into a good one, he supports me no matter what, and works so hard to make sure we are in a good spot for the future. He really is my best friend and I cannot imagine life without him!  -Madeleine
One special touch that was one of Madeleine’s favorites was “Carrying my grandma Frances’ rosary in my bouquet so she was apart of my special day.”The moment the two looked most forward to was that moment when the doors opened in the church and the two saw one other for the first time that day. “Yes! We both cried and were overwhelmed with happiness, and so many emotions.” St. Frances Xavier in  Jerseyville was special because this was the church Madeleine grew up going to and it was the church her parents (Lisa and Scott) got married in. One of Madeleine and Scott’s favorite part of the day (and Roger and mine as well!) was when their 6 month old goldendoodle puppy Charlie came to visit and get photos. The two chose Lewis and Clark in Godfrey IL for their reception “because we loved the open ballroom with large windows, and the beautiful scenery outside of the venue.” First Dance Song: I Get to Love You by Ruelle Madeleine’s dance with her father was to the song My Little Girl by Tim McGraw and included a slideshow of images in the background while they danced. “This song captures our relationship so we felt like it was the perfect song.”Scott’s song with his mother was Your Song by Elton John. This is one of Scott and Marcie’s favorite songs. At the end of the day, “we were both overwhelmed with happiness and speechless with how amazing the day turned out. We both kept saying how we could not believe it, but it was truly a perfect day. We felt so loved by everyone that was apart of our special day. So many people went above and beyond to help make it perfect, people traveled to come, and we were just surrounded by people who loved us. We felt so blessed and lucky. We wanted to re-live the day, but also were so excited for the honeymoon. ”
The two honeymooned in St. Lucia.

Their advice: “Try to take it all in. The day goes by so fast so try to experience it with each other and stay with your new husband/wife throughout the reception. It is easy to get pulled away from each other but the day is about you guys so try to experience it together!”

The couple call Troy IL home.

“We are so excited and ready to start this new chapter in our lives. We are excited to buy a house and make it a home together. We are excited to continue to travel and see the world together. We cannot wait to start a family to build traditions and memories together with our future kids and of course best pal Charlie.”
