DALANEY + JACOB

Dalaney and Jake met through a mutual friend on a blind date at a bowling alley. Neither had any idea who the other were, which is uncommon because their hometown of Hillsboro is one of those small towns where everyone knows everyone. They both were “tag-alongs” on this date and neither one took it very seriously.  “We were both just along for the ride, not knowing at the time 10 years later we would be saying I do.”
The two didn’t connect again until June, 2013. Dalaney went over to Jake’s house and the two watched Django Unchanged. “When I first showed up to Jake’s house I had an escape plan just in case, but ended up not needing it. I was also terrified of his boxer Norman, which turned out to be one of the sweetest dogs.”
They officially began dating in May of 2014, and dated seven more years until one Tuesday evening Dalaney was sitting on our couch watching basketball and on her phone. Jake told Dalaney “come here and look at something”. “I’m thinking it’s just something on his phone, so I told him just to show me and he persisted and said ‘no, come here’. I went to get up and he grabbed my hand and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in our living room. He had his phone set up and recorded the whole thing. I instantly called my parents to see if they were home and told them we were coming to visit. My mom was very suspicious and already knew why we were coming because as she would say ‘Dalaney and Jake don’t come over at 830 at night to visit’.”
Dalaney always knew when she and Jake got married that she wanted a fall wedding, and wanted it at her parents property where she grew up. The setting was absolutely perfect and the fall colors created the most beautiful backdrop for the day. We are so excited to share this peek at Dalaney and Jake’s wedding day!

“One of my favorite details about our wedding was having our dogs be a part of our day. We couldn’t have imagined them not being there.”Jake and Dalaney wrote each other letters to read before the ceremony and exchanged them during a first blind touch. “We didn’t read them out loud and kept the letters private just between the 2 of us, which was really special to us. “Having our wedding ceremony at my parent’s house instead of a venue is a memory that will last a lifetime for us both.”One of the things Dalaney could not have envisioned for her day was the number of ladybugs! “The ladybugs were absolutely everywhere, which they say they’re good luck, so we had a lot of good luck that day. During the ceremony, a ladybug went right down my dress. 🤣”

“If I could do it all over again there is not one thing I would change. ❤🤍 Enjoy every moment, even the stressful ones because it goes by so fast. Plan your wedding the way you want it because, at the end of the day, it’s your day and no one else’s.”

The two are planning a honeymoon for next year, and call Hillsboro IL home.
