SARAH + DAVID

They met in organic chemistry class. By some lucky twist of fate, they ended up being lab partners. The two talked the whole time and accidentally ruined the easiest lab of the year because they were much more interested in talking with each other than doing the lab. Sarah & David were both heading into the medical field and found solace in the fact they were both pretty big geeks. (In their words, not ours lol)  Their list of things in common continued to grow and grow every time they talked.  But even the differences they did have, they made work to their advantage.  Like how on their first date at Olive Garden, Sarah learned David didn’t eat the tomatoes in the salad and David learned Sarah didn’t like the pepperoncinis. David gave Sarah all his tomatoes and she gave him her pepperoncinis and they were certain it was a match made in heaven.

Sarah’s favorite thing about David is his smile. “He lights up and it’s infectious. He’s also got a kind heart that I love.” David’s favorite thing about Sarah?  “Everything”

They dated three years and on a trip to Florida, David had something special planned. While walking the beach at sunset, they saw and followed a trail of rose petals leading up to a bouquet of roses that they “found”.  When David knelt down to pick up the roses and hand them to Sarah, he stayed down and started playing one of “their songs”.  He told her how much he loves her and that wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He then pulled out the ring box and properly asked her to marry him. But he was so nervous he forgot to put the ring on her finger after she said “YES!” Sarah gently reminded him to place it on my finger and soon found out David had hired a photographer to capture it all!

The two were engaged a total of 3 years, but that was 1 year longer than planned. You know the reason, right? Yep, good ol COVID managed to almost wreck every plan Sarah and David made. They had to reschedule their wedding not once, but twice! They were originally supposed to get married in June of 2020, then tried again in September 2020. They finally got their day on May 22nd 2021, but the two won’t sugar coat the fact that it was a real struggle. “There were a lot of tears, frustration, and even a few fights. This was a stressful year for everyone, but planning a wedding was near impossible with all the restrictions and places closing down. People kept telling us that maybe it was not meant to be with everything that kept getting thrown at us but we viewed it as God’s way of testing our relationship and we made it through even stronger than before.”

We are so excited to share this long awaited day with you finally today!!  The two have definitely waited long enough, so please enjoy Sarah and David’s wedding day!

“Roses are one of my favorite flowes so I knew I wanted roses in the wedding. Red is also my favorite color and blue is David’s. I wanted to incorporate both our favorite colors and it just so happens our favorite colors work with Beauty and the Beast which was my favorite princess/movie growing up. David had never seen it before we met and we watched it together for the first time when we first started dating and he loved it too. So this is why our colors were red, navy blue, and gold with a very subtle Beauty and the Beast theme.”The part of the day Sarah looked most forward to was getting to see David’s face as she walked down the aisle. Similarly, David looked most forward to seeing Sarah walk down the aisle. Without a doubt, this moment was the most powerful moment Roger and I have ever witnessed at a ceremony.  David was absolutely overcome with emotion when the doors open and Sarah was there with her father.  It was the rawest emotion we’ve ever seen. (So much show we had to show both of our views of his reaction)I can’t with these two.  They so naturally just melt into one another. It’s as if no one else exists except the two of them. Such a fan of their love!!“We had 2 dances at the reception. We did our first dance (Amazed by Lonestar) then we had a surprise dance for everyone. We did the Beauty and the Beast dance (Tale as Old as Time). Our first dance song stopped halfway through the song and there was just silence….this was a choreographed dance. So I just looked at the DJ in disbelief and he said there was no more to the song. So he quickly found another version and played that one instead which was much longer than our edited choreographed song so we were a little lost with our dance.”  The two can both be perfectionists, so whether it was having to come to terms with their wedding not being exactly how they envisioned it (only being allowed 50 people total at the ceremony, and the not many people wanting to be out in public settings) or the dance they’d worked so hard on being amiss, the two navigated through it all together. And that is what marriage is all about.
“Don’t give up. I know it feels like everything in the world is against you but just keep fighting for what you want and just love each other through this experience. Try to still have fun planning. It will all work out in the end and the important thing is you’re with the one you love and loves you unconditionally!”

“This was one of the most difficult things I have had to endure and yes, lots of things went wrong through the planning and on the day but in the end I’m married to the most amazing man on the planet and so it was worth every struggle.”
