Back in 2005 they had officially met at a wedding. It was the hottest day of the year, and they’ll never forget being officially introduced as sweat poured off of them. Their families had always known one another and been friends. In fact – Craig was named after Kayla’s dad! His mom was good friends with her aunt and she always thought that Craig was a nice name. So as crazy as it was that they’d never met, the timing was perfect because they certainly hit it off! They both ended up at University of Illinois for college and dated for several years before a Sunday in April of 2013 when Craig asked her to be his wife atop a rye field in the middle of no where.
Kayla and Craig have a strong, faithful, solid love that you can visually see standing the test of time. Whatever life throws their way, they get through because they have no another. This beautiful day was the perfect beginning to a lifetime of special memories. Enjoy Kayla & Craig’s day!
I love Kayla’s style and that she chose this amazing wedding dress. It’s so elegant and stylish. Not to mention it is so “her”. Not everyone can pull that type of dress off – but her elegance and not to mention rocking body was stunning in this dress. Everything from head to toe was perfection!
Craig is a little quiet, but very charming. I absolutely LOVED his dark navy tux and his handsome look!
The navy and champagne/khaki all looked so wonderful together!! LOVE this look!
I don’t think it’s possible to love a set of photos more than we love these. They are such a vibrant couple and just adorable!
So let’s talk about this cake…My love for it is ridiculous. In fact I had just “pinned” on Pinterest a identical cake 2 weeks prior to this wedding. When I saw it I nearly died. But then something else happened…
PIES!! You heard me! Several of them!! All different kinds. Who doesn’t like pie? Seriously. I still dream about this.
The band kept the dance floor PACKED. Sometimes bands can be overwhelming, but Outbound Drive was so good – Roger and I plan to go see them perform sometime. We LOVED them! As did everyone else who got down on the dance floor!

FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING DAY: My most cherished memory of our wedding was having my 99 year old great grandma there to celebrate with us. She had faced some health battles earlier in the year but was determined to make it to our wedding and she did just that – she even stayed at the reception until 11:30! We also had a blast rocking out on dance floor with all of our family and friends to the band! I love to dance and it made me so happy to see the dance floor packed all night long.
ADVICE TO FUTURE BRIDES AND GROOMS: Don’t sweat the small stuff! No one will remember the little details except for you.
Kayla and Craig – THANK YOU for choosing Roger and I to be a part of your day by capturing your memories!! We adored everything about you, your families, wedding party, reception, and did I mention the pies??? 🙂
