They’d met way back in the third grade when their schools combined for a school play. She doesn’t really remember meeting him, but he went home and reported to his mom – “I met a girl named Amanda and SHE”S CUTE!!!” A few years went by, and in 6th grade they ended up in the same school and instantly became great friends. All throughout school the two were inseparable. They talked on the phone daily and hung out in the same circles of friends. From time to time, Justin would want more than just a friendship with the cute girl Amanda he’d met in the third grade, but Amanda never wanted to take the chance of ruining a great friendship. Their senior year, something changed. The two both saw that there could be something more and decided to keep the friendship, but add the love. A relationship deep rooted in friendship can be the strongest kind, and it kept Amanda & Justin’s relationship solid all throughout college and living more than 3 hours apart. Surviving every test of a relationship life could throw their way, it finally came time for the next step. Justin had an elaborate proposal planned, but in a conversation, Amanda mentioned she would like a proposal – when it came – to be low key. Something with family and just loved ones. That day came one evening when her mom was in town from North Carolina. At a cookout with family and loved ones, with only light from the tiki torches, Justin got down on one knee and asked Amanda to be his wife. It was the proposal she’d dreamed of and of corse she cried and said yes!!
We had the honor of capturing this couple’s senior photos back in the day right before they started dating. I remember telling Justin that we were photographing a girl named Amanda and he responded “Amanda Dowdy??!! She’s my best friend!!” excitedly. We cannot wait to watch these two best friends promise forever next July and watch their love grow and evolve. Enjoy a few of photos of these cuties from their gorgeous engagement session!!!!
