Melissa & Pat {married}

Melissa & Pat brought us up to Peoria IL for the weekend of their wedding.  We love being able to see the dynamic of two sets of families on a day less hectic than the wedding day.  You learn so much about the foundation of the couple and see them more relaxed and happy.  We watched Melissa laugh with her bridesmaids until she cried.  We listened to Pat’s grandpa share stories about life and memories.  When Melissa’s dad ordered a coffee, we watched as her mom quietly tap him reminding him he’d be up all night if he had too much.  Each interaction individually seems small and insignificant, but as a whole they make a family a family.  It shows the depth of love, and the solid foundation for which a marriage is built.  Being a part of these moments made being a part of the next day that much more special.  Enjoy Melissa and Pat’s day!!A sweet and quiet first glance before the hustle and bustle began!Melissa  recently graduated from University of Illinois as a veterinarian.  Before we ever met in person, Melissa and I shared stories of pets and life.  Every time we chatted it would be for at least an hour, like talking with a good friend.  When I needed pet advice, she was always there.  (She even saved our dogs life quite possibly)  Her kindness and big heart not only for animals, but for friends and family is evident in everything she does.  Her parents raised an amazing young lady that every mother would want their son to marry.Pat (aka Patty Cakes) – even though you don’t enjoy being photographed, even though you take my instructions very literally and made me reassess how I direct people from here on out, even though you got me in a little trouble for not encouraging you to smile more, and even though your “shock humor” may be at times more “shock” than “humor”… we ain’t mad atcha.  We watched you when you didn’t know people were watching (not in a creepy way) and we saw you be attentive when people spoke to you, watched you kiss your new wife on the shoulder and smile because she was happy.  Behind a slightly sarcastic exterior, is a big heart.  (But don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone) 😉Peoria has tons of character and cool places for photos.  Loved this big ivy wall.  And the couple in front of it!!Favorite!!After a sweet first glance, and some fun on location photos, we headed to the Kickapoo Creek Winery for the wedding.  Kickapoo Creek is beautiful and charming – just like the couple.Melissa had a sweet first look with her dad.  She is such a daddy’s girl and has the sweetest dad in the world!!Melissa has one other love of her life that she wanted there on her wedding day – she’s been by her side through thick and thin and her unconditional love is always apparent.  Meet Bella.Hands down one of our favorite photos from the day.  Roger and I both snapped this photo (although his was better) and we both looked at each other and smiled.  (I may have teared up)  It’s these moments that are timeless and tell the story.  Their love is inspiring and we hope for Melissa and Pat to have a relationship as strong as these two right here…I could tear up just looking at this.  You can just see the love.After looking at Kickapoo Creek’s website, we knew exactly where we wanted to do some night shots.  I danced a little after these shots.  (By myself.  in a winery parking lot.  I’m sure they see things like this all the time.)Melissa and Pat – thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives and your special day.  We’d looked forward to it since the day we met, and it did not disappoint. We look forward to watching your love and family grow throughout the years, and are thankful we were there for the beginning of it!!  Cheers!!
