It’s easy to get caught up in the details. You spend your days leading up to a wedding engulfed in dress colors, what fonts to use on your programs, Pinterest boards filled with ideas and hairstyles, flowers and decorations. But within all the hoopla there is a bigger entity to a wedding that for some people gets lost, and it’s called a marriage. It’s the day you commit to spend eternity with someone, so it should take more precedence than “bubbles or confetti?” but sometimes it doesn’t. That was far from the case for Chelsey & Brad’s wedding.
It started out as a beautiful day. A little on the warm side, but the sun was shining and all was perfect. Chelsey and her girls were excitedly preparing for the day and the entire room was a buzz with excitement and laughter.Chelsey you were a total beauty on your wedding day!!! Your dress was SO gorgeous and you were flawless head to toe!!!Chelsey & Brad had opted to do a First Look before their ceremony. Clouds had started moving in, so I quickly referred to my weather app on my phone. 30% chance of rain. No big deal. The clouds offered a bit of relief from the heat and made the lighting beautiful for Chelsey and Brad’s first look.Right about here a couple drops of rain fell, and the sky really started looking ominous. Heading back to the church I checked the weather again. 30% chance of rain. The local news wasn’t even reporting rain at all, so we were convinced it was likely a small band of clouds with some light rain and was no big deal…
and then Mother Nature decided to throw us a curve ball. The sky turned black and the rain came down in sheets. Guests scurried into the church to get out of the weather and dried off inside as the rain kept coming down harder and harder. Moments before Chelsey walked down the aisle the power went out. Stressed, I looked at Chelsey and there she was laughing with her bridesmaids and excited to walk down the aisle and become Brad’s wife. Wether there was power or not did not matter. She was marrying the love of her life and nothing would stop that!!The power flickered, the thunder rolled, but the couple simply said their “I do”s and happily left the building as husband and wife. (And I checked my weather app. AGAIN.)It said the rain was headed out, yet the flash flooding and no visibility out the window told a different story. There was nowhere we could go for photos, so like any person with a lick of sense we headed to a bar. Chelsey and Brad laughed, and cheered, and danced, and the rain may have put a damper on our options but it certainly didn’t effect their spirit!!and when the only option you have for photos is a bar, you make the best out of it!! When the rain slowed enough that you could actually walk with an umbrella without getting drenched regardless, we headed to a covered area in town for some fun shots. You can see from the smiles and laughs, nothing was going to bring down the spirit of this group!!Inside the reception, things were dry and cozy, and beautiful. Chelsey had so many details she had incorporated to make the reception gorgeous!LOVE a mother-daughter dance. Not a dry eye in the room!
Chelsey & Brad – thank you for keeping your cool when Mother Nature threw a horrible circumstance your way. Your love was the focus of your day and that is SUCH a great example to others!! The only thing that mattered to you was that you were married, and that is certainly all that SHOULD matter!! The details don’t outshine the happiness and positive attitudes, and it was so great to see a group of people who enjoyed and celebrated one of your happiest days. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of it!! Cheers!!!
