Carrie met Tommy at the very beginning of High School. They had an instant attraction and starting calling and texting one another. In the midst of all that talking, Carrie soon had a revelation… she didn’t like Tommy that much. He was very athletic and into every sport imaginable and it seemed to her that he thought a little too highly of his athletic abilities. Still interested in Carrie, Tommy continued to pursue her. Until one night when she finally told him how she felt – and at that moment the communicating stopped. They’d see one another throughout their high school years, and there was always an attraction… a spark maybe. Towards the end of high school they would se one another at basketball games and events and it became apparent that Tommy wasn’t at all how she’d thought, and they actually had very much in common. They gave it another shot, and have been together ever since.
5 years later, Tommy joined Carrie’s family on their annual Florida trip. The entire family – and Tommy – piled into one vehicle and headed out on the 11 hour drive. The entire time Carrie felt as though everyone was ignoring her and being completely weird. When they finally arrived Carrie was spent so she went to take a nap to get away from everyone and unwind. She was woken abruptly to Tommy rushing around the room telling her to get dressed for dinner. Even telling her what to wear. After the annoying car ride, this was just getting even more annoying. She hesitantly got ready and went to dinner, and then a walk with Tommy on the beach to watch the sunset like they do every evening while in Florida. Carrie calmly took some photos of Tommy and the ocean, when her dad came up and said “Why don’t you let me take a photo of you and Tommy together.” She reluctantly handed over the camera and hoped that her dad could figure out how to work it. He took one photo and brought the camera away with a huge smile on his face. She looked to Tommy wondering what her dad was smiling so big about only to see him down on one knee asking her to marry him. She began crying hysterically and can remember him telling her he loves her and wants to be with her forever, but everything else was a blur. She did however have enough sense to say “YES!”.
Carrie & Tommy are planning a destination wedding next summer. Unfortunately we are not their photographers for the big day, but they were kind enough to ask us to do their engagement photos this fall. Roger and I could not be more sad that we are not capturing their wedding because the couple hours we spent with them was absolute bliss. They are the sweetest couple (and Carrie’s dad was as sweet as he could be too!!) and we could have talked with them for hours. Their sessions is one of our favorites of the year thanks to their willingness to do whatever we asked, and the amazing fall backdrop that was so vibrant that day!!
Carrie & Tommy – we wish you a lifetime of happiness and love and hope that your wedding day, as well as your life together is more than you could have ever asked for!!
