The first date was awkward. It felt like 2 coworkers going out to see a movie. They each paid for their own ticket, and neither one really knew what the other assumed the date was. After the movie was over Bret took Amanda straight home. Her mom left her a note that asked
Did he open your door? NO
Did he tell you you looked nice? NO
Did he pay for you? NO
Did he get you popcorn? NO
Did you go anywhere fun after? NO
Would you go out with him again? Despite all those no’s, of corse she answered “YES!!!!”
It was a shaky start, but they both knew there was something there that they needed to pursue.
Pursue they did, and after some time Bret knew Amanda was the one. So on a cold January day, Bret took Amanda for a date in St.Louis. They went ice skating, and to dinner at the revolving restaurant at the Millennium Hotel. After an amazing dinner, Bret was anxious to leave so he could continue with his plan to propose that evening. She wasn’t ready to leave as they hadn’t revolved to the Arch yet. Not being able to handle the wait, Bret convinced her to leave and promised to bring her back someday. On the elevator, with Amanda still disappointed, he asked her what floor she wanted to go to. “The one with the Lobby” she answered. “How about this one?” and he pressed the 9. As they stepped off the elevator, he guided her to a room, slipped the key in and she walked into a room covered in rose petals. She was completely taken by surprise, but even more so when she turned to see Bret holding a beautiful engagement ring. “No, no, no, no!” she responded. Um, not what Bret was hoping for. He got out a few sweet words, followed with “Amanda, will you marry me?” and despite all those no’s, of corse she answered “YES!!!!”
The couple looks forward to a wedding next May!! Enjoy a few of our favorites from Amanda and Bret’s engagement session!!
