9 years of love later, David told Kari that he’d be taking her to the Melting Pot for her birthday. She’d always wanted to go there, and she suspected that it could possibly be when he’d propose, but she’d been on the roller coaster or hoping followed by disappointment for sometime now, so she talked herself out of thinking it would happen. She figured it was just his way of giving her a nice birthday celebration. As the favorite part of the meal – dessert – came out, David bolted off to the bathroom. If it was going to happen, she figured that dessert was the time and she felt like her heart would burst out of her chest. He returned… and nothing. Just as she was feeling a twinge of disappointment, the waiter came holding a ring box in one hand, and a plate with the words “Will You Marry Me?” written in chocolate on the other. He set it down on the table and David got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. She said yes and continued to happily cry in her napkin the rest of the date.
10 years to the month after that bonfire, they’ll be saying their “I dos” in front of family and friends and anxiously looking forward to all life has in store!
