Grant would call Kelly from time to time, and always had a way of letting her know he’d be in town. Eventually when he moved back home, he would still contact her and they’d hang out from time to time but NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. He was happy being single and clearly conveyed that to her – even though the signals she was getting were saying something different. They went out on a pseudo date once and again… nothing transpired. Back to square one, Kelly felt hopeless once again and like she should give up. So to the outside world she made sure she was over it, but inside she still held hope.
Maybe that’s what it took for Grant to realize that some opportunities won’t wait forever. Maybe being single and independent wasn’t as important as being happy. Realizing how he’d screwed up, he called Kelly in the middle of the night and insisted she come over. She was not interested in going through the seesaw relationship anymore, but after he wouldn’t let up – she gave him a chance. He apologized that night for being afraid, for having a wall up, and for not showing her how well she deserved to be treated. They talked through the night and grew to be the greatest thing anyone could ask for…best friends.
Inseparable from that moment on, Kelly & Grant spent every moment they could together which wasn’t always easy due to her work schedule. Traveling all over the country for work is great, except for the fact that the man you love is not with you. On a work trip to San Antonio, Grant came along to have a little weekend vacation time with Kelly. They filled every single moment of the weekend wrapped up in one another, and sadly – their time together would soon be coming to an end. They were holding hands as they walked the Riverwalk. There was an awesome view of a waterfall on the Riverwalk, along with the Tower of the Americas. Grant kept taking pictures. She thought it was odd because it seemed like he was taking photos of the same thing over and over. She started to turn her back to him because it was almost time to head to the airport and she didn’t want to say goodbye, and didn’t want him to see her cry. He couldn’t stand for her to be so sad about their time apart, and he knew that he could give her the strength she needed to make it easier. As she stood there crying, he grabbed her hand and when she turned around, she saw him standing with a ring in his hand. He started to cry, got down on one knee and told her that he loved her more than anything in the whole entire world and could not imagine his life without her. Crying and shaking she said yes. Now when Kelly travels she knows that when she returns she’ll be coming home to her soon to be husband and it makes being apart a little bit easier knowing they’ll have forever together.
All of their dreams will come true next May when they say I DO in front of family and friends. Their lives together will be strong and happy as they know the value in never ever giving up hope.
