CATHERINE + MATTHEW

They met during rehearsal for Grease in high school. Catherine was on stage and Matt was in the pit band. Catherine thought Matt was funny- he always made her laugh. Matt thought Catherine was sweet. It wasn’t right away that the two started dating, but one weekend Catherine took the Amtrak up to Chicago to see Matt. They went to Shedds aquarium, John Hancock building, window shopped on Michigan avenue, enjoyed their favorite cocktails on roof top bars, and had their first kiss in Three Dots & Dash.
That first Thanksgiving together with their families they immediately knew they’d found “the one”.
Matt loves their unconditional love and devotion to each other, and Catherine cherishes how well they communicate, their laughter together and their ability to overcome life’s challenges.
After 3 years of dating, Matt proposed at his medical school graduation party. He stood up in front of his family, asked Catherine to join him in the front of the room, and proposed. He had just asked her parents permission a couple weeks before, and they gladly said yes.

Catherine and Matt had to postpone their wedding for 6 months after the COVID restrictions went in place this spring. “We experienced tremendous stress replanning and getting new vendors as well as having to limit the number of guests we could have. It was very difficult for us as well as for family and friends.”  With the wedding originally scheduled to take place in the spring, it was supposed to be a springtime, whimsical fantasy theme but they kept all of their details the same and hoped to be blessed with a beautiful fall day.  And blessed they were!  Catherine and Matt’s wedding was sunny and inviting, just like the couple!  Enjoy a peek at this perfect day!
Catherine’s dress was one of the most beautiful wedding gowns I’ve ever seen.  The moment Catherine looked most forward to on her wedding day…The two felt that their entire ceremony was their favorite part of the day.  Both Catherine and Matt’s mothers surprised them by singing a solo together during the ceremony.  The two had no idea they had planned it and came as a total surprise that left them in tears.

The moment Matt had looked so forward to being pronounced husband and wife and kissing his bride…A couple photos that sum up this group.*not pictured – The best man falling in the park during pictures and ripping his rented pants exposing his blue boxers for the rest of the evening, or the requests of one of the groomsmen for the wedding party to cheer a certain unrepeatable phrase during a group photo. LOL This group had us cracking up the entire day.First dance: Come Live with Me by Ray CharlesFather daughter: Daughters by John MayerMother/Son: Forever now by Michael Buble In case you wondered if you will still have a fun party with a smaller wedding, you should definitely consider these photos as proof that you can!
