If you grew up in the town of Collinsville Illinois, you probably spent your Junior High Friday nights at Tepee – the coolest place to be seen dancing or eating pizza as a 12 or 13 year old. It is also the place that Kristen and Joey first met. Through the years they eventually started hanging out with the same groups of people, but when one was single – the other was dating someone and vice versa, so the opportunity to date never really came about. One night they found themselves at the same restaurant – Zapata’s, and at the same place in life – single. Joey asked Kristen to be his date to a wedding in May. The night went so well, she accompanied him to many more weddings and were really hitting it off. So well that Joey got nervous. So he called it off and said they were better suited as friends. Kristen was devastated. Luckily, two days later he realized his mistake and called Kristen to apologize and the rest is history.
But a year or so later Joey was nervous again – in fact so nervous he was to the point of almost throwing up every 30 minutes. He was on a vacation with Kristen and her entire family to Disney World – and he knew this was the time he would ask her to be his wife. Kristen was enjoying her vacation and was relaxed as could be. After dinner one night they waited to watch the fireworks at the lagoon at Walt Disney World. Joey asked Kristen to take a walk with him. Kristen was adamant that she did not want to miss the fireworks, and Joey promised she wouldn’t miss them. They walked to a small island of palm trees off the lagoon and sat down in the tall grass, directly in front of the castle. The fireworks show began and with that, Joey pulled out a lighted ring box with the ring of Kristen’s dreams inside and asked her to be his wife. It was the fairytale she’d always dreamed of.
The fairytale continues next July surrounded with family and friends! Enjoy Kristen & Joey’s engagement session.
Joey and Kristen won the contest we held back in the summer to turn their engagement session into a 10/16 style engagement session. So the two decided to rock out their session and rent Busch Stadium and bring their family and friends along to celebrate! It turned out to be an amazingly fun session and it was so awesome for Roger and I to get to meet their families and wedding party before the wedding. The more interaction you have with the family and friends involved in a couple’s wedding day, the smoother it seems to go the day of. Plus, we’ll know now not to ask this group to jump for photos… their coordination is a bit lacking! 😉 We can’t wait for more fun with their group next summer! Enjoy their video!
