They met while she was tending bar at a local sports bar. He would come in after his softball games on Wednesday nights, and she took notice of him. He was hard to miss because he was loud and outgoing. That is, until he wanted her number. Melissa recounts messing with a golf ball on the bar while bored and Derek coming up and taking it. He wrote on the ball – asking her for her number – and rolled it back to her. She let him know she’d gladly give him her number – if he asked for it instead of writing it down. He shyly asked, and they’ve been together ever since.
After a nice dinner one evening with the snow gently falling on them as they walked hand in hand, Derek turned to Melissa and said “The first time I saw you, I knew I wanted to date you. The first time I said “I love you” I knew I wanted to spend my life with you. Melissa, will you marry me?” To which she softly cried and said “YES!”. (A little bit better than the golf ball I must say.)
Melissa and Derek look forward to their wedding next May where they plan to promise forever – as well as dance their butts off with family and friends. Enjoy their engagement photos!
