The forecast for the week leading up to Katie and Vinny’s wedding seemed ominous. It was calling for 100% chance of rain and it never changed. I’d talked to Katie that week and told her that one time at a wedding a few years ago it had been the same scenario – 100% chance of rain all week leading up to it – but on the day of it was sunny. As the bride and groom exited the church to cheers of celebration under the warm sun, the bride’s grandmother explained that the reason for the good weather was because she’d hung a rosary on her front door earlier that week. “Honey, trust me. If you want good weather on a wedding day, someone better have a rosary on their door.” She was completely matter of fact like it was common knowledge. So when Katie and I chatted about the circumstances the weekend held, I told her about that grandmother’s advice. “I’ll get everyone I know to hang one!” she’d said.
I figured it was an old wives tale, and as certain as the meteorologists were it was going to be a wash out – I didn’t have too much faith in it working. But a wedding day is all about faith right? It’s a bold statement that says that I don’t know where life will take us, I don’t know what time will do to us and how we will change through the years, but no matter what comes our way – I have faith that we’ll make it through. Wedding days have nothing to do with facts. You can make predictions all you want, but there is no science when it comes to love. Love that lasts a lifetime is all about faith. Faith that no matter what, love perseveres.
So while the day started a little chilly, a little gray, and a little worrisome, it never rained a single drop. In fact, the sun came out and it was the most beautiful day! Whether it was just a fluke, or if the rosaries really did help I’m not sure. But one thing for certain – Katie and Vinny were given the day dreams are made of, and we were beyond thrilled to have captured the photos for them! Enjoy a peek at Katie and Vinny’s day!
Katie and Vinny got a puppy the week of their wedding, so they are now proud parents of this adorable little guy!Katie you are such a gorgeous bride!! Absolutely flawless.Vinny – I know we blew you away with how many wedding photos are taken on a wedding day, but you hung in like a champ. And really you shouldn’t feel like the process is unenjoyable because the camera clearly adores you! 😉If there is one photo that is bound to be one of our favorites, it’s the bride with her dad before they walk down the aisle. Katie – you are so lucky to have the love of the man who holds you in this photo – and the love of the man who is staring at his beautiful bride. This is everything. This wedding party was down to have a seriously good time, but they cooperated for photos and were so fun to work with. We had such a great time with this adorable group! If you’ve ever been to Calhoun County IL, you know the views are phenomenal. But we have to admit, they are even prettier with this girl in them! These kids though. Can’t even handle how adorable they are! This field of yellow was one of the most striking we’d ever seen, and we knew we had to get some photos of the beautiful couple in them. For those who aren’t in the midwest, you may not know that these flowers are technically weeds. There is a quote that says “The only difference between a flower and a weed is perspective.” As big believers of the power of perspective, we like the optimistic approach that says they were in a field of yellow flowers under a blue sky and in the warmth of the sun. Because that’s the other big parts of a wedding day, right? Optimism and a positive perspective. A wedding day is truly as optimistic as it gets, and when you keep choosing that perspective year after year – what you end up with is a lifetime of happiness. When we headed indoors, it was just as beautiful as it was outside! Such a stunning reception!Love this shot of the bouquet toss Roger captured. The perfect end to a perfect day.
Katie and Vinny, we adore you. We adore the friendship you two hold for one another. Your families, your friends, your life. We adore your love. You fill us with hope and we are so incredibly grateful to have been the lucky people to photograph your first day of forever. Thank you.
