Allie + Mitchell Wedding Film

Do you remember Allie and Mitchell?  Back in May, we relaunched our videography business and held a contest for a FREE wedding video giveaway.  We could have relaunched in a million different ways, but after 13 years in business, we wanted to do something we’d never done and give back in a big way.
Many couples applied, but Mitchell and Allie’s application stood out to us amongst the crowd.  We can tell you after seeing them together on their wedding day, seeing the way their friends and family love them, seeing all the things they do to make everyone around them feel important and appreciated – it’s truly no wonder they stood out.

They were finalists in the contest, and while we ended up opting to give both couples a free wedding video, Allie and Mitchell were the technical winners.  Each couple brought in thousands of votes and it was even nerve wracking for us watching each couple battling it out down to the last second.

We’ve gotten to know these two a little better since the contest ended.  We followed them on Instagram and watched all the days leading up to the wedding day.  One thing was certainly confirmed along the way – these two are freaking awesome people.  We can’t say enough amazing things about them, and instead of going through a number of adjectives to share how much we adore them, we want to share their words and show you why we adore them. 🙂

Enjoy a bit of their story…

HOW DID YOU MEET?
MIZ-ZOU! We first met in college through many mutual friends. Allie lived in a house with 11 of her girl friends and they just happened to live next door to six of Mitchell’s friends.
Curve ball – we both were dating other people for majority of college. We didn’t hit it off until post-college when our friends invited us both out to the same bar the night after New Years. We had poor timing as Mitchell was planning on moving to Nashville days later. But he made sure to come back (almost) every weekend when we first started dating. Once he mustered up the courage to ask me on our first date, I immediately said yes. I said yes so fast that I forgot I had Blues playoffs tickets that same day…
We both ended up going to the Blues game separately and our friends tried talking us into calling the date off so we wouldn’t desert them. But we are thankful we didn’t listen. After the game, we met for dinner at Farmhaus in St. Louis for our first “official” date.

THE PROPOSAL STORY
Remember that place Farmhaus from above?
Fast forward…we had been dating for a few years and living in Nashville together for one. We were going home to St. Louis for the weekend as we often do and Mitchell suggested going to our favorite restaurant while we were there to celebrate an early anniversary. Farmhaus holds a special place in our hearts as it is owned by some of Mitchell’s family and is often our go to for celebratory meals.
Mitchell somehow kept his cool throughout dinner until it was time for dessert. He started off his speech by pointing out that we were seated at the same table as our first date and then the rest was quite a blur. Mitchell had a secret photographer seated next to us at the bar that documented the whole thing – ugly, happy tears and all.
Our family and friends were waiting on the rooftop of Moonrise hotel to celebrate our big night. We had never felt so loved as we did walking up to that crowd.

FAVORITE PART OF BEING ENGAGED
All of the support that we have received from our family and friends as we start and plan the rest of our lives together. There are many people that have rallied for us over the past few years and will continue to do so for many years to come.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING MOST FORWARD TO AS A MARRIED COUPLE?
Sharing a last name
Referring to each other as wife and husband
Growing old with each other
And we would be lying if we said we weren’t excited for the chance of parenthood as well.

WHAT FAMOUS COUPLE (REAL OR FICTION) WOULD YOU COMPARE YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO AND WHY?
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard
We hope to laugh together as much as those two do. We recently have gotten into podcasts while traveling between STL and Nashville and one of our favorites is Dax’s when interviewing his wife. They are not shy about their love for one another and we hope to give off of those same vibes to everyone we encounter.

WHAT DOES LIFE LOOK LIKE ON YOUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY?
A big gathering with hopefully many friends, kids, and grandkids. We envision it would be a day full of story telling with others.  And it would be picnic style of course. We’re too old for that fancy stuff.

THE DAY AFTER YOUR WEDDING WHEN YOUR GUESTS ARE TELLING THEIR FRIENDS ABOUT YOUR DAY, WHAT DO YOU HOPE THEY SAY?
“BEST WEDDING EVER.”
“I never left the dance floor”
But in all seriousness, we hope that we have captured their hearts in a big way. Our hope is that they wake up Sunday and feel as loved as we will.

We’d say your hopes came true Allie and Mitchell.  And here’s the proof…

We are SO extremely excited to share with you today – Allie and Mitchell’s Wedding Day Film!!!!
We hope this brings you as much joy as you two (and your donuts) brought us!! xoxo
