Alyx + Brendan {Colorado Wedding Part 2}

Sometimes there is an event so big, so fabulous, that it can’t all be contained in one blog post!!  One thing for certain – this event was that big.  When over 100 people travel from all over the U.S. to Colorado for your wedding –  you know the couple is special.  When they all are have their jaws on the ground watching a wedding day unfold – you know the day is epic.  We’ve been doing this a long time, and I can assure you that this was one of the most incredible weddings we’ve ever seen.  But not just because of the way it looked (because WOW there were so. many. incredible. details), but because of the way it felt.  But that’s Alyx and Brendan.  They are the kind of people you just can’t help but love.  And you love them individually for certain, but you also love them together.  They have a relationship that is unique, and special just like them.
We were so honored to be chosen to capture this incredible day in Denver Colorado, and are incredibly excited to share it with you today!  There’s a lot to see, so sit back and relax and enjoy Alyx and Brendan’s wedding day!We’d done a first look a couple days before, so maybe you’d assume it wouldn’t be emotional to do it again but you’d be wrong!  This day was even more emotional than the first!They are so stunning aren’t they?As we traveled to the wedding venue, we stopped again at the fabulous Red Rocks along the way. All of these beautiful people in such a beautiful location was pure magic!  And maybe a little like herding cats lol.  They are such a fun group that are tight knit and down to have a great time, so sometimes as a photographer you just have to go with it and let them have fun!Yes, the kids took off shirts and rock climbed.  Did I mention things were laid back? lolThere are a ton of things to rave about at Alyx and Brendan’s wedding, but their florals might just be tops.  Some of the best I’ve ever seen and SO incredibly authentic to Alyx’s vision. I know I’d previously mentioned this was a fairytale, but did I mention this wedding was at a castle nestled in the mountains?  I can’t even tell you how difficult it was to wrap your head around all this beauty!For all of the couples out there who believe that a first look takes away from the moment you walk down the aisle… These two had TWO first looks and absolutely nothing could have taken away from this moment.  Everyone was fully present and the emotions were palpable.Have you ever seen such a scene?  It was a dream!When Alyx told me she’d be wearing a crown as well as a cape with a blue train I thought “OK.  I don’t know what it’s going to look like, but it sounds perfectly Alyx.”  And now I can say that it looked flipping amazing and it was indeed perfectly Alyx.  She has such an unmistakable style and vision that is beyond extraordinary!While it’s not the bipolar behavior of the midwest, Colorado mountain weather can be a little unpredictable. But unlike here – no matter what it does in the mountains, it’s always beautiful.  When it started to lightly rain, ushers quickly brought Alyx an umbrella to which she smiled and requested to give the umbrellas to her guests.  She was so happy and invested in the moment that no rain shower could spoil it.  Plus, that’s just the way Alyx is – she’s more concerned with the comforts of others and perfectly content no matter what life throws her way.My favorite photo of the day thanks to Roger.Seriously these two.As quick as the rain came in, it moved out and the sun gave way for the rest of the evening making everything even more magical.Speaking of magic – this signature drink created with edible glitter is still talked about a month later. Coined the “New Moon Cocktail”, it was a sparkly sensation!! The perfection of the reception details were something that photos cannot do justice to.  Just like the scene atop Mt. Evans, some things are so magnificent a simple photo cannot grasp it!As the sun set the moon rose and the magic continued.

I don’t even really know what to say.  We’ve done so many weddings and told so many stories, and this one leaves me speechless.  I couldn’t sleep that night even though I was beyond exhausted.  I still get chills just thinking about this day.  It will forever go down as one of the most magnificent weddings we’ve ever had the honor to capture.
Alyx and Brendan, thank you for allowing us to be part of your history.  We are so grateful and hope to continue to be part of your future.

Advice for future bride/grooms?
Just do what you want!! Who cares what other people will think or say about the decisions you make for your day. It should be exactly what the two of you have dreamed up!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Alyx going airborne when the bus driver slammed on the brakes!! (Just kidding.. that was terrifying!)  Probably Brendan and Alyx’s dad both stepping on her dress/cape during the ceremony. We are so awkward!
