She was home for a two week break from PA school in Chicago when she attended her cousin’s graduation party. Her cousin had a new boyfriend she had just started dating who came to the party with a couple of his friends. Lyndsi didn’t know which one was her boyfriend, but she thought it was this guy Derek.
Derek’s friend asked him to come along to his new girlfriend’s graduation party since he wouldn’t know anyone else at there. Derek saw Lyndsi and couldn’t take his eyes off her. He thought she was adorable, but noticed how she kept talking to some guy who must have been her boyfriend.
Lyndsi found out Derek wasn’t her cousin’s boyfriend, and had her eye on him. She thought he was pretty attractive.
Lyndsi’s cousin noticed Derek watching Lyndsi and told him how she’d be sticking around all night. “Too bad she has a boyfriend” and pointed to the guy Lyndsi had been talking to all night. Lyndsi’s cousin burst out laughing. “That’s her brother!!” she replied.
From then on there was quite a bit of flirting. Maybe a little bit of orneriness on Derek’s part to get her attention. When she told him she’d had enough of him, he kindly offered to make it up to her over dinner. And it worked.
She met him for lunch and they spent the entire day together. Her 2 week break flew by as they spent every moment together that they could. They were inseparable. “What are you two planning to get married?” a friend asked after seeing them together so much.
They both shrugged their shoulders… “Maybe”.
A couple years later on Thanksgiving morning, Derek asked Lyndsi to come over for breakfast. With a day of eating ahead she didn’t really need a big breakfast, but reluctantly said she’d just have a couple bites of his breakfast. He was making French Toast, and came into the bathroom where she was getting ready, kissed her and told her her breakfast was ready. She was in a rush to get going, so she didn’t even sit down to eat. After coaxing her to sit downt, she grabbed the bowl of cinnamon sugar to add to her french toast (her favorite) and sitting right there in the bowl was a diamond ring. She was speechless. Before he could even ask she jumped on his lap and said yes. After getting a hard time that Thanksgiving Day about never getting down on one knee, that night he took the ring back off, got down on one knee, and formally asked the love of his life to be his wife.
The sweet couple are planning a wedding for this November!! Enjoy a little sneak peek at their gorgeous engagement photos!
