Shiloh and Ryan grew up in the same hometown, so essentially the knew each other for years, but it wasn’t until 2009 when he came to see her as a patient that they really got a chance to connect. According to Allison, they met at his birthday party in August 2008. According to Nate, it was a beer pong tournament a good 5 months later. A friend encouraged her to come meet some new friends at a get together. How would she know that a simple invitation would chance the entire course of her life?
What hooked her immediately was the fact that when a song from her favorite movie “Newsies” came on, Nate recognized it and threw on a newsboys cap and vest and shamelessly make a fool of himself. She admired him and thought he was SO cute, but it wasn’t until later on into college and out of the braces that they really started talking. She’d grown into a beautiful girl and he seized the opportunity and asked her out.
She was participating in a half marathon with a friend in St.Louis. She’d asked him to come along and cheer her on, but he told her he’d be fishing. She’d always been the “follow the rules” kind of girl, and he’d generally been the one to break them, so she didn’t think much of it. She knew him well. They’d gone to high school together but ran in different circles, but when their paths crossed later, he surprised her when he asked her “What do you think of you and me?” After laughing, she actually thought about it. 3 years later on the day of the marathon he still managed to surprise her.
